Within the scope of the Green agenda’s WP5 for the Business Innovation of ECP- Eco Cerâmica e Cristalaria de Portugal, a working meeting focusing on the importance of BIM for the Ceramics Industry was held on the 16th of January 2024.
As part of the work of Wp5 works of ECP | Ecocerâmica e Cristalaria de Portugal, Grupo Visabeira welcomed members of the University of Minho also representing buildingSMART Portugal and CT197-BIM.
Together with national experts not belonging to the consortium, it aimed to explore any opportunities and challenges regarding the ceramics sector in terms of BIM (Building Information Modelling).
WP5 foresees, among other results, the creation of the BIMCer Platform, which will provide a national public library of digital models of ceramic products using BIM technology. BIMCer will help bridge the market gap in terms of standardised processes for creating digital models of ceramic products by supporting the creation and standardisation of a set of rules for building these models using BIM technology.
The development of BIMCer is led by Visabeira R&D, but it also includes INOV, CTCV, ISQ, Revigres, Sanindusa and Matcerâmica, which also contribute their knowledge and expertise.
This Agenda, led by Vista Alegre Atlantis, comprises 30 partners representing the value chain, including three business associations, 17 business entities and eight entities from the national scientific and technological system.
With a total investment of around 101 million euros by 2025, this Innovation Pact aims to develop 33 products, processes and services, and also foresees a turnover associated with the sale of new products and services introduced by the project in the amount of 50 million euros and the creation of 200 jobs.
The “EcoCerâmica e Cristal de Portugal” [EcoCeramics and Crystal of Portugal] Agenda is one of the 22 “Agendas Mobilizadoras e Agendas Verdes para a Inovação Empresarial” [Mobilising Agendas and Green Agendas for Business Innovation] funded by the RRP in which Visabeira Investigação e Desenvolvimento participates, with an investment of around 800 thousand euros.
